Florida synth poppers return with new track and a date for debut LP.
Orlando's Priest (formerly x priest x) first landed on our radar way back in November '13 with the sparkling dreampop of "Dark Sun". Subsequent debut EP Samari hit a sweet spot, leaving the pop-inclined (i.e. us) hungry for more. And here we are, with Dummy playing host to their return today with new track "The Game".
The new track gives a sense that the outfit has found their firm footing. Singer Madeline Priest fronts a more self-assured sound, backed by waves akin to the oceanic synths of I Break Horses, but exuding shimmers of sun-drenched optimism.
Priest's cooing synth pop has found a fitting home with Swedish label Emotion, who are known for releases with oOoOO and Karl X Johan, amongst others. The debut album is set for release on May 5th, and "The Game" is available for purchase now on iTunes.
